Claudia has been through more than any dog ever should. She shows signs of past abuse and was absolutely terrified when first rescued. It took multiple people just to help her get in and out of a car. We were told she was dumped while actively in labor during some of the coldest nights of the year. Despite everything stacked against her, Claudia pushed through and raised her puppies, who are now almost 7 weeks old. She has weaned them and is finally ready to focus on herself.

Since being in care, Claudia has made incredible progress. With time and patience, she has learned to trust. She now wags her tail when she sees her people, jumps up for hugs, seeks affection, and listens well. She is very sweet and continues to open up more every single day.

Claudia is still gaining weight but is making wonderful progress. Because she appears to have been starved in the past, she does best being fed separately from other dogs. Otherwise, she does amazing. She loves running and playing, does great with a pack of dogs, and has shown herself to be gentle and loving. Loud noises can still make her skittish, but her confidence grows more each day.

Claudia would thrive in a calm, loving home, though she could also do well in a moderately active household with patient, understanding people who will continue to help her feel safe.
