Adoption fees

Our standard adoption fee starts at $200. Thanks to generous sponsors, some dogs have reduced adoption fees, while others have their fees fully sponsored.

If the $200 fee is outside your budget, please message us before filling out an application or other paperwork to ask whether the dog you’re interested in has any sponsorship available. Sponsorship varies by dog, and we’re happy to confirm their current adoption fee and answer your questions! 

Two-Week Foster-to-Adopt Trial

We offer a two-week foster-to-adopt trial to give you and your new companion time to settle in and see if you’re a good fit!

Half of the dog’s agreed adoption fee is paid when the trial begins. If you decide to adopt, the remaining half is due at the end of the two weeks.

If it doesn’t work out, the dog returns to our rescue and your payment is fully refunded, as outlined in our foster-to-adopt agreement. For dogs with sponsored fees, we’ll confirm the amount due before your trial begins. 

What Your Adoption Fee Covers

Your adoption fee helps cover spay or neuter, age-appropriate vaccines, microchipping, deworming, flea and tick prevention, heartworm prevention, and heartworm testing when old enough.

Every adoption also helps us continue caring for dogs in need and gives another dog a chance at a loving home!

What is the first step to adopting a dog from Blue Nest Rescue?

The very first thing to do is to check the dog's bio on our website (available-puppies or available-adult-dogs). See if you think you'll be a good fit for the dog. The second step is to fill out an adoption application. The third step is either a home visit or a virtual home visit, and then a meet and greet with the dog.

What kind of home is the best fit for a Blue Nest Rescue dog?

There aren't really any specific things we look for, just a home where the dog will fit in well.

What kind of vaccinations do you provide?

They are up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations. On a deworming, micro chipped and spayed/neutered

What happens after I submit my adoption application?

It typically takes around 1 to 2 days to process. You should expect to be contacted to schedule a home visit, be asked to provide pictures of your home, or participate in a virtual home visit.
